They tried to be demure, mindful, and cutesy, but obviously, that didn’t last long. Big Brother’s children have finally remembered whose house they’re in and have started giving us back-to-back drama. Now, we can guess the pair that’ll most likely walk away with Biggie’s money.

Radicals

Fairme and Michkey obviously don’t know their audience, and it doesn’t look like they even want to. They’ve been in the bottom four twice in a row, and instead of changing their game plan, which is currently just sexual jokes and giving everyone the ick, they’ve decided to stick to it. If we’re being honest, that’ll be their downfall because how many times will the custodians save you?

Chances of winning the money:  0.5. The only way they’ll win that money is if the housemates forget they’re there and they sneak their way to the finals, which is highly unlikely.

Beta

We don’t even know how Big Brother let Ben’s leaking mouth and Tjay’s silence in the house, but we highly doubt they’ll last long. They’re currently surviving off Tjay’s connections, and that’s because Ben won’t stop making crass jokes that piss everyone off.

Chances of winning the money: 2. The second Big Brother scraps custodianship, and the housemates select who stays or goes. The viewers will send Ben out of that house, and Tjay will be collateral damage.

Floruish

The fact that they decided to spell their pair name like that aside, Rhuthee and Dj Flo are a very interesting pair. While Rhuthee is building castles in her head and waging imaginary battles with the other female housemates because of Mayor Frosh, Dj Flo has decided becoming Chinwe’s shadow is more important than the ₦100m. They’re doing their best to entertain us, but Rhuthee and her delulu might be their downfall.

Chances of winning the money: 3, but only if Ruthee’s team finally sits up and Dj Flo finds a better storyline for herself.

Streeze

Mayor Frosh and Toby Forge came into Big Brother’s house with a shipping agenda. Mayor Frosh may have finally landed one, but that isn’t going to help him and his partner.

Chances of winning the money: 3. If Toby Forge can magically make Kassia return whatever he’s feeling and come between Double Kay,  they just might have a chance at the money. If not, nothing for them.

Zinwe

Chinwe already threatened everyone with a voluntary exit, so we’re quite surprised that Zion and his sugar mama are still there. Chinwe is trying her best to give us drama, and Zion is serving fine boy realness, but the way they’re both moving, the housemates might send them packing the next time they touch the bottom four.

Chances of winning the money: 4. They had a chance to win the shippers’ support, but their bad behaviour got in the way.

Double Kay

We know everyone feels like they might be strong, but we really don’t see it. Kassia is trying her best, but her husband has decided to blend in with Biggie’s furniture. They need to decide if they want to put their “housemates can’t know we’re married” storyline to use or go to their house.

Chances of winning the money: 5. They’re sitting on the hottest storyline in Big Brother history, and if they put it to use, we’ll all have a blast.

Nelita

Nelly and Anita might have avoided Biggie’s cameras and drama for the first two weeks, but they’ve clearly decided to embrace it all this week. Since they won the HOH titles earlier this week, they’ve been giving us romance, sisterhood, and gbas gbos on all sides.

Chances of winning the money: 5

Mbadiwe twins

Ozee and Ocee seem to have solidified themselves as the big brothers of the house. However, some housemates feel like they’ve started doing too much, giving unsolicited advice and being condescending.

Chances of winning the money: 6. They’ve never been in the bottom four, and most of the housemates like them, for now.

Aces

Sooj and Topher might be the only housemates who know the power of connections this season. They’ve found themselves in ships with Nelly and Anita, avoided fights, and are just giving love, light, and low-key drama in Biggie’s house.

Chances of winning the money: 7, but only if Topher’s influencer status helps them out.

Shatoria

Victoria and Shaun are on two different journeys in Biggie’s house. Shaun’s journey started on the very first day, when he started talking to Wanni, while Victoria’s journey just started this week. She spent the first two weeks blending into the background and keeping to herself, but now that she’s out of her shell, it’s looking like they might have a good chance at the money.

Chances of winning the money: 8. With the Shanni shippers on their side and all the fans Victoia somehow gained from keeping quiet, they have a good chance of winning.

Chekas

When Big Brother opened his doors to Onyeka and Chizoba, we don’t think he knew he was bringing “gistlover” into his house. While Chizoba prefers to quietly win over the housemates, Onyeka has decided to answer the journalistic call, searching for and spreading information all over the house. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s clearly working for her.

Chances of winning the money: 9. They might have touched the bottom four in the first week, but their fans have sworn to drag them to the last day if they have to.

Wanni x Handi

The twin DJs walked into Big Brother’s house with a mission. Wanni found herself on a ship in the first 24 hours. They’ve come together to fight any and everybody who has tried them, and they’ve never been anywhere near the bottom four.

Chances of winning the money: 10. If the Chekas team doesn’t sit up, Wanni x Handi will walk away with Biggie’s ₦100m.

From the twins that became triplets, the romance that surprised us all, and the slow burn of the century, here are the ships to look out for in Biggie’s house.

Wanni and Shaun

We don’t think Shaun knew what he was getting into when he started talking to Wanni that first night. They’ve gotten closer and started sailing even before the first week ended, but they’re not alone because Wanni’s twin has joined them on their ship, and they must all sail together.

Chinwe and Zion

They are Biggie’s official mummy and daddy. They started dating outside the house, and even though they almost broke up last week, their love continues to thrive, no thanks to Ebuka’s table shaking and Chinwe’s mouth.

Chizoba and Ben

Somebody please beg Ebuka, Big Brother, anybody to scatter this ship for us. We don’t know when or how it started. We simply blinked and saw Chizoba being extra nice to Ben and Ben treating her like the piece of gum under his shoe

Kassia and Toby Forge

Granted, this ship is still in the building process, but we need Toby Forge to stop threatening Kassia with marriage and children in this economy so they can finally leave the shores, and Double Kay can give us the drama they’re there for.

Onyeka and Ozee

They might be giving slow burn, but Ozee has already gone on one too many jealousy-induced rants. We give them until Friday for their ship to gain full steam and start sailing.

Nelly and Sooj

If you had asked us before yesterday, we would have told you that Solly was simply part of Nelly’s game plan, but after her five hundred apologies to Sooj for not taking him to the HOH apartment with her, they might just be endgame.

Ruthee and Mayor Frosh

Last week, Ruthee stuck by Mayor Frosh’s side, serving custodian wife realness. This week, however, something has clearly possessed her husband. He’s back to following Nelly almost everywhere and has decided to return to pursuing her fully. We don’t know how he plans to get past Sooj and Ruthee to carry this out but good luck to him.

10 Out-of-the-Box First-Date Ideas https://www.zikoko.com/ships/10-out-of-the-box-first-date-ideas/ https://www.zikoko.com/ships/10-out-of-the-box-first-date-ideas/#respond Thu, 08 Aug 2024 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.zikoko.com/?p=330929 The streets are crazy, but every now and again, you find someone sensible that doesn’t make you want to count all the sand on Elegushi Beach. Someone that makes you temporarily forget that sporting waves is now ₦7,100, spaghetti is ₦1,400, and your country is the weapon fashioned against you.

We’re not saying you’ve met them yet, but when you do, these are the first dates you should take them on.

Traffic navigation

You need to test if they can hold your hand through the tough and difficult situations and guide you right. The best way to do that is by finding the tightest gathering of cars and helping everyone find their way out.

Play bus driver and conductor

We don’t know how you’ll find a bus for free, but when you do, hop in there with your almost bae and be the bus driver to their conductor.  You’ll earn money, see the city you’re in and find out if their social skills are in the gutter.

Plan a heist

It really depends on the city you’re in. A heist would be great, but a regular robbery works just as well. Send them into any money making establishment of your choosing and stay right outside as their get away driver. You’ll show them how trustworthy you are and that your driving skills aren’t shit.

RECOMMENDED: Budget Date Ideas According to the Alphabet

Spend the day in court

You could watch trials and figure out which crimes you would get away with and why, or you could stand outside and give people unsolicited advice on how they can get their loved ones out of the kasala they’ve fallen into.

Go to random construction sites

If you love art or you’re a very judgemental person, take your almost bae to a random construction site and critique everything, from the shape of the house, to the cement being used, to the way the workers are moving the materials.

Follow cars around

If you have a car and enough fuel in it, get in there with the unfortunate soul that has fallen into your trap and just follow cars around. You’ll get to see what weird shit people get up to, or someone will get down from their car and ask you why you’re being a creep. Either way, you’ll both have an experience.

Go to a wedding

We suggest you attend a random one, where neither you or your date know the bride and groom, sit at the back and yell, “I object” when it’s time. You’ll add a lovely spark to people’s special day and possibly get your ass handed to you.

Sip and paint

Find a building that is already being painted and ask the painters if they’ll give you a section to work on. They might say no, but if they say yes, buy sachet gin, get into your most dispensable clothes and start working.

Late night walks

We suggest you only do this if you’ve spoken to potential bae long enough that you trust each other. Wake up at 11:50 p.m, get into your car, drive to your closest cemetery, wait till 2:50 a.m andjust walk around. Bonus points to your date if they caress the headstones while they walk.

Go to the hospital

Think of it like an excursion. Go to the hospital, sit in the waiting area and simply guess why everyone’s there. It’ll show how smart your date is and if you’re in safe hands.

“Happy Moments Are Not Just Happy Anymore” -13 Nigerians on Navigating the Loss of a Parent https://www.zikoko.com/ships/happy-moments-are-not-just-happy-anymore-13-nigerians-on-navigating-the-loss-of-a-parent/ https://www.zikoko.com/ships/happy-moments-are-not-just-happy-anymore-13-nigerians-on-navigating-the-loss-of-a-parent/#respond Wed, 07 Aug 2024 14:20:46 +0000 https://www.zikoko.com/?p=330878 The loss of a parent is a life-changing, earth-shattering event. These Nigerians talk about how losing a parent has shaped them and the life they now live.

Salem, 50

I was the original daddy’s girl. My father and I were close; he was my friend, my confidant, and my defender. He died at 78, and I know people think that’s old enough, but it isn’t. My father was agile, and he didn’t look his age. All his life, I never saw him ill.  His first illness took his life.

When he died, It felt like my life was over. I had never been without him in my entire life, and I didn’t want to be here without him. I’ve felt alone since. I still dial his number when I’m upset so I can vent. I’d go through an emotional event and want my daddy, only to realise that he isn’t here anymore.

My life has changed, and I’m not the same person I was before he died. I have tried finding that person, but it seems she’s lost forever. I am a new person, and I am still getting used to her.

Ona, 24

I was 14 when my dad died, and I spiraled because of it. I was depressed and did things I’m not proud of; I avoided people for two years. I’ve learned to cope better with it now. Sometimes, it hits extra hard, and I cry, but I’m doing better now.

I still miss him though. I don’t know if I’d be the person I am right now if he was here, but I’d still rather have him here.

Ani, 20

My dad and I didn’t have a strong relationship, so when he died, I found it hard to grieve or miss him. There was no emotional connection there, and it was easy to move on from his death. The only time he comes to mind is when we celebrate his remembrance, and people praise the man he was. That’s it.

Laura, 25

My dad passed away when I was 2, so I don’t remember much about him. My mum died when I was 16; this one I remember. It was four days to my 17th birthday, and I don’t think I’ve been able to move from that age. I feel like life has been passing me by.

It’s been very depressing since she died. When she was here, talking to her fixed everything that was wrong with the world, but now everything’s just shit. My depression has gotten worse, and I still feel like such a sad person, no matter what I do to spark joy. Happy moments are not just happy anymore — they feel bittersweet because she isn’t there to witness any of it: my graduation, getting into my first relationship. I’m second-guessing getting married because she won’t be at the wedding, and I’m scared it’ll be a very underwhelming day.

Leo*, 28

My dad died when I was 18. Before he died, I strongly believed that death could never be me or my family’s portion. I never thought it would happen to my parents, but it did, and I cried a lot. I used to live my life with no care in the world. Daddy was there, and everything was going to be fine. His death was the reality check I didn’t think I needed. I’ve had to be more responsible and be accountable for my actions.

It took a while, but I’m laughing and joking more now. I’ve already seen the worst that life has to offer, so I might as well appreciate every day  and live to the fullest.

 Adekunle, 24

I lost my mother three years ago. She was the best thing to ever happen to me. I’m her last child, and we were close because we spent a lot of time together. Since she passed, life has been scary. I’ve felt alone and, quite frankly, cheated. She was there to guide my older siblings and help them navigate life after school while I got nothing.

Deep down, I know it’s for the best that she left when she did —she was sick and in so much pain, but it’s just hard to reconcile both feelings.

Pae, 20

My dad passed from cancer when I was 13. We were really alike and did a lot of things together. I could sit in complete silence with him and not be discouraged for not going outside to play with my cousins. He understood and loved me just the way I was.

I barely remember his funeral or anything from that time. All I remember is seeing him in his coffin before he was lowered to the ground.

I don’t think I’ll ever heal from losing him. I feel like I don’t have anyone in my corner anymore. I miss him every day.

Jerry, 25

Losing my mum was devastating. She had this habit of going into everyone’s room to pray for them in the middle of the night, and sometimes, she would sleep off. That night, she slept off in my room, and I woke up to my dad crying over her body.

I remember being tough on the outside. I didn’t,cry in front of anybody but I cried myself to sleep every night. I didn’t have my mum to shield me from the shitty world outside, and I became depressed and suicidal.

It’s been 13 years since she passed. I’ve finished primary, secondary, and tertiary education and will maybe go further. I’ve gotten a job, lost a job, and am currently in another. I’ve gotten my heart broken, healed, and built good relationships. I’ve travelled out of the country. I’ve found love. Having her around for all those experiences and life phases would be nice, but it is what it is. I’m in a good place, and it can only get better.

Abigail, 19

My dad passed away when I was 12. He was easy to talk to, forgave people, and always provided. I lacked for nothing when he was around because he provided everything for me. His death changed my life. When he was around, there was money and suddenly, there was no money. I switched schools and houses. It all happened so fast and no one wanted to grieve with me because I was a small child.

I had to grieve alone and I’m still grieving to this day, not just for my father but for the life I could’ve had if he had been alive.

Lucky, 28

I lost my mum when I was 14. When she died I became a shell of myself, numb and disconnected from everything. I couldn’t eat, sleep or read for the first three years. My anchor had gone, and my world had stopped spinning. It was horrible. I was drowning in the loss and I tried desperately to detach from it, but now I’ve accepted that it happened, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Alma, 21

My dad died when I was 17, and Iit left me mostly in shock. The regret began to seep in when I realised I would never get to spend time with him anymore. He worked away from home, and losing him made me realise there was so much about him I would never experience in real-time.

Losing my dad shaped certain decisions about my life. It motivated me to work for a first class, which I eventually did make. It also strengthened my relationship with my mum. It still hurts knowing that he won’t be there for the important milestones in my life.

Tunde, 33

My mum died during my service year. I was 25 and I cried in the car from Zamfara to Lagos. She was my world, and I feel like death took her away too soon. Her death made me realise I had to become independent. I wasn’t a mama’s boy, but I knew I could always count on her for anything, so I never really put my all into making my way.

Kay, 27

I was 11 when my mum passed, and for the longest time after her death, I believed everyone who got sick was going to die. I got seriously ill a year after her death, and I didn’t even bother getting treated. I just accepted that it was my time.

Since she died, I’ve been closed off. I don’t see the point of letting people in because what if they die too?

Zikoko’s Guide for Escaping the Friend Zone https://www.zikoko.com/ships/zikokos-guide-for-escaping-the-friendzone/ https://www.zikoko.com/ships/zikokos-guide-for-escaping-the-friendzone/#respond Wed, 07 Aug 2024 07:30:24 +0000 https://www.zikoko.com/?p=330868 Catching feelings for a friend can be annoying, but it happens. If your heart skips a beat when you’re around your friend, and you can no longer ignore how their laughter brightens up your day, stick with us, and we’ll tell you how you can escape the friend zone.

Understand that the friend zone isn’t your fault

Just because you’ve been thrown in there doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you that has made the potential love of your life stay away. It might just mean they’re not ready for what you have to offer, or they have someone else, and that’s fine.

Give them space

Not too much space that they start doubting if the friendship was simply a figment of their imagination, but just enough for them to miss you a little bit and see that life without you is shit, like the Nigeria of today, but on steroids.

Show them how you feel

We know you’re a great person and you show up for your friends when they need you, but we’re talking romantic feelings here. If you want them to stop seeing you as their nice friend and start seeing you as a potential partner, you need to wear your adult pants and show them that they’re the best thing since Mr. Biggs.

Tell them

How would they know that your feelings have gone from “aww, cute”, to “aww, cute” but with heart eyes, if you don’t actually open your mouth and say something.

Get more physical

We’re not saying be a creep and make them run for the hills, try the light things, like holding their hand, hugging them, anything that isn’t inappropriate and downright creepy.

Pull out all the stops

At this point, you’ve left your friend hat at the door, and you’re now fully wooing them. Nothing’s too big or small for the one your heart beats for. So, flirt with them, appear the second they think about you, make grand gestures. Just make sure you wipe away any doubt that the feelings you have might be passing or worse, a lie.

Accept defeat

You’ve tried your best and we know your heart was already invested in the potential relationship, but if your friend tells you they just want to be friends, then open your ears, listen and accept defeat.

12 Brain-Stimulating Activities for You https://www.zikoko.com/life/12-brain-stimulating-activities-for-you/ https://www.zikoko.com/life/12-brain-stimulating-activities-for-you/#respond Tue, 06 Aug 2024 10:05:47 +0000 https://www.zikoko.com/?p=330824 Obviously, we’re all living different realities in this Nigeria.

While everyone and their daddy are looking for ways to earn more, someone came on X to contemplate leaving a ₦700k job for a ₦500k one because it wasn’t tasking enough.

Have they seen the state of the economy?

If like them, you’re looking for things to do to task your brain and get it up and running, we’ve made a list for you.

Have sex

Think about it, your brain isn’t off when you’re engaging in coitus. It’s actually an active participant figuring out what feels right and what makes you want to punch your partner in the throat.

Build your vocabulary

Channel your inner Akeelah and go back to learning new words. You can pick up a dictionary, download an app, or sit under Patrick Obahiagboh’s tutelage, as long as your vocabulary makes people think you’re an AI every time you speak.

Learn a new language

Listen to your family members speak your native language and actively try to learn it, or download Duolingo and learn how to speak a foreign language. All the listening and translating you’ll be doing will be enough work for your brain.

Argue on Genevieve’s internet

There’s nothing more stimulating than arguing with random ass strangers on Elon Musk’s internet. The people you argue with might not be the brightest, but best believe all that back and forth will get your brain juices flowing,

Join a debate club

After all that arguing on the internet, it’s time to take your skills to the real world and join a debate club so you can argue with like-minded people.

Play sudoku

We don’t think there’s a game that’ll put your brain to work better than sudoku. If you’re looking for a game to challenge your brain and improve cognitive function, try sudoku.

RECOMMENDED: Only Geniuses Can Score 8/10 On This Brain Teasers Quiz

Cheat on your partner

We’re not trying to tear apart what your love has put together. We’re just saying all the hiding, lying, and sneaking around you’ll do when you cheat on the love of your life will give your brain a boner and have it working in overdrive.

Take a course

There are free courses all over the internet that you can take to learn more and put your brain to use. If you don’t want to take one of the online courses,  intern under a Nigerian politician and learn how greed truly works.

Complete a jigsaw puzzle

According to a 2018 study, puzzles activate many cognitive functions and protect against the effects of brain aging. What we’re trying to say is, walk into a shop, buy a jigsaw puzzle, and complete it if you really want to stimulate your brain.

Play cards

Solitaire, poker, you can even take out your Whot cards and play jackpot or school. All the tension and overthinking from these games will put your brain in overdrive.

Dance

Dancing isn’t a mindless activity. Remembering all the steps and trying to recreate them is all hard work. It’s hard work that you need your brain for, so take a dance class or go to the club. Your brain will thank you for it.

Play chess

Put on your Tunde Onakoya fila, get a chessboard, and start playing. Thinking about the next moves and remembering the names of all the pieces and how they move will definitely put your brain to work.
